National Museum of Natural Sciences

Dear friends, evolution is change, and the times they are a-changing. After seventeen years at the National Research Center for Human Evolution (CENIEH) in Burgos, since June 17th (next Monday) I will move to the National Museum of Natural Sciences, in Madrid. The Museum belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a historical institution, in which research is directly associated with museology. A dream comes true. At the Museum, as a Senior Researcher at the Department of Paleobiology, I will be in charge of Human Paleoneurology, so my research lines will be the same as in the last 25 years: human evolution, anthropology and neuroscience, functional craniology, comparative neuroanatomy, craniovascular traits, and a touch of cognitive archaeology. The main research topic will remain the same too: the evolution of the parietal lobes, and their cognitive functions. I will also keep my affiliation at the Research Center for Neurological Diseases (CIEN) in Madrid, to keep on bridging evolution and medicine. Evolution is change, and ripples never come back. ¡Adelante!
